What should you know about the Main Hall?
The Main Hall was rebuilt in 1499 after a war fire and is where every walking time on this site starts. Senbon Torii is about 5 minutes on.

What you'll find here
The Main Hall enshrines five deities together under one roof. Its style is called Inari-zukuri, after the shrine.
A fire in 1468, during the Ōnin War, destroyed every building in the grounds. After a temporary hall, money was raised across the country and the present hall was rebuilt in 1499.
It is large for a shrine building. Look for the gilded trim and metal fittings on the gable ends and rafter tips, which point toward the bold, rich style of the late 1500s.
How crowded does it get?
100 is the busiest hour of the week at Main Hall itself. The dark bar is the current hour (Japan time). In our data, its busiest hour falls between 0:00 and 16:00 on every day of the week.
Unlike the shrine as a whole, this spot's line stays well above zero at night. Treat the night hours with caution and use the chart to see when it peaks during the day.
